Glittering star summer camp-2011

Need for summer camps:
Live and learn- Introduction Every year, thousands of children all over the country get away from their normal lives to spend time at summer camp. Summer camps are made to be fun – a chance for children to bond with their peers and meet new people. However, there’s more to summer camp than learning, enjoying and having fun. Summer camp can be a highly educational experience, with many camps hosting several hours of classes, lectures, obstacle courses and other events designed to test participants’ problem-solving skills. Most importantly, people who go to summer camp get to learn the all-important skill of being able to function away from home.
We believe that every child is gifted and talented. Glittering Stars summer camps are designed for young children who aren’t yet independent enough to fend for themselves away from home. Children at Glittering Stars summer camps are watched closely as they learn the most basic skills of being outdoors. Glittering Stars summer camps often include gentle activities such as pottery, Bollywood Dance, Group Juggling Activities, Trust building Activities and many more such events.

What do we do at Glittering stars?
It’s not just dancing and singing away all day in the summer camps. It’s more about enhancing, learning and applying the world and their facts in the simplest manner having a 360 degree fun activity. We aim in providing the best, fastest and the most interactive sessions to the kids. Our curriculum and activities are well designed such that the co-ordination between the hands, mind and the senses are well enhanced to involve the kids. The whole purpose of this summer camp is to turn mirrors into windows.  While the students at the school had just learnt the theoretical concepts- here at Glittering stars we convert them into totally fun filled learning sessions.
The child will know as the right time will come to prepare and face the real world. For now let him get grubby in the mud, have tens of hundreds of questions filled with curiosity, let him be mischievous, let him be carefree, let  her play, let them be kids at the Glittering Stars.
By 360 degrees fun, we mean laughing, learning, listening, performing, applying, remembering, knowing, utilizing, conceptualizing, appreciating, enlightening, improving, inculcating, nurturing and most importantly “questioning” the worldly facts and knowledge. Our Approach
Brain development occurs unevenly, with different parts of the brain (related to different skills) developing at different times. Most of this development takes place during childhood, meaning that the early years are the prime time for children to learn and grow under the encouragement of their family and friends.
The different types of brain development in children include:
1. Visual and auditory development – the development of the sight and hearing senses. To encourage these senses, we make sure that their children are exposed to a variety of colours, shapes and sounds.
2.
Language development – the development of language and speaking skills.  We talk, sing and read to kids often, and respond to their language attempts in order to foster this development.
3.
Physical and motor development – the development of control over the muscles to encourage large motor skills (mainly using the legs and arms) and fine motor skills (mainly using the hands/fingers and feet/toes). The development of coordination will also occur in this area.  We encourage these skills by allowing the kids to be active and participate in a variety of physical games and activities.
4.
Emotional and social development – the development of emotions and social skills. We provide a warm, loving environment to the kids so that they can develop emotions like love, trust and empathy, as well as provide opportunities to socialise and thus learn the social cues present in the wider world.
5.
Cognitive Development: A large body of research suggests that play contributes heavily to the cognitive development of children. Cognitive skills are those that are connected to thinking and learning, and since play is actually a way in which children “research” the world, playing allows children to test and develop these skills. We ensure kids mingle and communicate with fun activities to develop cognitive skills related to focusing attention, planning, creativity, imagination, divergent thinking (creative or “out of box” thinking), perspective taking, memory and language development.
6.
Creating a Play Group: For kids - play is hard work. What may seem like fun, cute or even silly activities to adults are really the ways in which children learn about their world. Play groups are fantastic tools not simply for children to meet others and make friends, but to further their social, emotional and cognitive development as well and learn social cues to practice their social skills.

We create opportunities for safe exploration, while at the same time providing a loving, warmth and encouraging atmosphere and hopefully set them on the road to a lifetime of happiness.

We believe that every child is gifted and talented.

How do we make this work?
We are constantly working on many solutions based models to ensure that your child learns the best. The Adventurous Child’s equipment is designed to help children to mature in physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development milestones. During this tenure while your kids enjoy the fun activities you could be assured that every day they learn something new which have made them much stronger than the others individuals today. New learning systems like abacus, field trips, visual and sound learning programs have taken a slow but a steady place in our Indian education system which is quite ahead practiced in the other countries. We are making all this possible here today.

Parenting

Proverb – what u sow is what u reap…
The relationship that parents share is the base of all relationships the child will have in his lifespan. Here we list a few dos and don’ts.

Top 5 parenting tips
Give Unconditional Love :

The childhood of your child is the time when you can spend maximum amount of time with your child and grow close to them. You should try to have as many as happy memories as possible. Let them know how much you love and that you will always love them. Hug and kiss your child – it reaps a great sense of bonding.

Put Yourself in Their Shoes:
If any time, you feel irritated by your child’s demands or feel that your child is being difficult, put yourself in their shoes for a moment. Be calm and patient. Listen to what they have to say, do not snub them, correct them politely if they are wrong.

Healthy Eating Habits:
Make it a point to feed your child healthy food right from a young age. Give them fruits If your children eat healthy foods right from a young age, then it is likely that the habit will continue till adulthood.

Spend time with your kids:
Many parents come home late at night, by which time their children are already in bed. Make it a point to have at least one meal together as a family. Set aside some exclusive time every evening, when the entire family gets together and spend some quality time with the kids.

Create a Healthy atmosphere:
Do no fight or pick up quarrels in front of the kids. Do not use offensive language. Do not always use negative words like Don’t, Stop, Cant, Will not etc.

Self-Reliance:
Try to make your child independent and self-reliant. Do not do everything for your child as this will make them more and more dependent on you. Children should be given an opportunity to do simple tasks which can be done by them, without the parent doing it for them. When children do things by themselves, they become self-reliant which in turn increases self-esteem. Let your kids help you in few house hold chores -  this will help them to learn basic life skills which everybody needs to know.

Building Individual Relationships:
Often parents and guardians have different opinions on the same topic but showing this indifference to the child will harm him. A child will tend to manipulate if he knows that a difference exists between their thinking. So parents must have better understanding between them and respect each other’s opinions and thoughts.
